Improvements made to Work Permit Scheme

The Department of Jobs Enterprise and Innovation has announced improvements to the work permit scheme.Most usefully, anyone legally residing in the state can apply for a permit for any position save those on the excluded list. This will eliminate the difficulty of having to leave the state while waiting for a work permit. There is also a new ‘Atypical Work Permit’ category (from September) which will facilitate short term workers and give important flexibility. We will be using these new provisions to the advantage of our clients in the coming months and we will update on how the programmes are operating on this news spot.
