“Ireland’s First Chinese Solicitor Returns To Her Law School”

Griffith College Law Society held an event on Wednesday October 24th to celebrate former graduate Chan Shi, Ireland’s first Chinese solicitor. “We’re very proud of Chan” said Dean of Law at Griffith College David Langwallner. “Our strength is our diversity here at Griffith, today we are Ireland’s largest law school and have students from over 40 countries including several chinese citizens” Griffith Law Student Cian O’Dowd said.

Chan graduated from Griffith Law School in 2008 and is now a commercial and immigration solicitor with McGrath McGrane Solicitors in Dublin. Before becoming a solicitor Chan was a translator for An Garda Siochana (Police Service), The Department of Justice and the Irish Courts Service. Chan Shi was joined at the event by Harvard Graduate and Dean of Law at Griffith Mr. David Langwallner and Barrister Ross Maguire who advised students on the challenges in pursuing a career in law today.
